Mission Statement
It is the mission of the Regional Leadership Conference 2017 Team to ensure that our delegates engage in a meaningful experience throughout their time at the University of Connecticut. The RLC 2017 Team aspires to be a group of dedicated leaders who aim to cultivate personal and professional development by embracing a diverse worldview and fostering inclusive environments. Throughout RLC 2017, it is our hope that delegates will participate in a series of opportunities, whether program presentations or enriching conversations with fellow student leaders, that will challenge their perspectives and encourage individual growth. Above all, the RLC 2017 Team at the University of Connecticut intends that all delegates will leave the conference feeling as though they have been provided with tools, resources, and a support system strong enough to enact social change, not only through their residential organizations, but also in their greater surrounding communities.
Theme Overview
The RLC 2017 Team has chosen “The NEACURH Games: May Marty Be Ever in Your Favor” as the theme for the NEACURH 2017 Regional Leadership Conference at the University of Connecticut. For an underlying meaningful theme, we have chosen “activism”, as its impact on the world is continuously growing. Activism is an essential aspect of creating social change, which is gradually falling upon the leaders of tomorrow to enact. Student leaders today should be provided with the resources, support, and empowerment to pursue their passions that lie in issues of social justice. Throughout RLC 2017, we not only hope to entertain the theme of The Hunger Games, but more importantly, we hope to inspire delegates to participate in the many forms of activism in their communities, encouraging each other and the people around them to do the same.
